Power of His Resurrection Part 8

Estimated reading time: 7 minutes

Conclusion

Ephesians 4:8 KJV:
Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Colossians 2:15 KJV:
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

The first thing he did when he ascended is he lead captivity captive and made a show of the fact that he now had authority over every principality, power, and authority on earth.

There is part of a verse from Psalms that is quoted in Ephesians.

Psalm 68:18 KJV:
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

In Ephesians, it says that he gave gifts to men; in Psalms, it says he received gifts for men. Well, in order to give something, you have to receive it first. When Jesus Christ ascended up to the Father, God gave him gifts to bring back to people. Verse 18 tells us the reason that God gave these gifts for people: that the Lord God might dwell among them.

The Hebrew translated as “gifts for men” could also be translated “gifts of men” or “gifts in men.” Part of the gift of Holy Spirit as given to the body is apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers such that God’s grace is energized in them in such a way that their lives are a gift to the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:7 KJV:
But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11–12 KJV:
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

The gift ministries are to build up the body of Christ. And the mystery (of the one body) is where our power lies.

Ephesians 4:10 KJV:
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above [through, to the highest point] all heavens [heavenlies], that he might fill all things.

Ephesians 1:20–22 KJV:
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,

Hebrews 7:24–27 KJV:
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; 27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Christ in you means that you have the right and authority to make intercession for people. It means that we have the right to live together as a body in the victory that is because of his resurrection.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Matthew 24:29–30 KJV:
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign [banner] of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:27 KJV:
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Revelation 19:11–16 KJV:
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture [forehead] and on his thigh [banner] a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

You can’t see a small name written on a thigh when someone is riding a horse, it’s the banner spoken about in Matthew.

The beginning of Zechariah Chapter 14 describes when the armies are surrounding Jerusalem.

Zechariah 14:1–4 KJV:
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Ezekial 37:12–14 KJV:
12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
