Until Generation

Matthew 5:18 APNT:
For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one stroke will pass from the law until everything happens.

Matthew 5:18 KJV:
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

We give names and labels to various generations. Here are some examples in the United States.

1901–1927The Greatest Generation
1928–1945The Silent Generation
1946–1964Baby Boomers
1965–1980Generation X
1981–1996Millennials (Gen Y)
1997–2012Generation Z
2013–2024Generation Alpha
2025–2039Generation Beta

As believers, we are all in the same generation. No matter our age, we are all in the “Until Generation.”

“Until” means all the way up to or to the fullest extent. You don’t go halfway; you go all the way.

Acts 2:35 APNT:
until I place your enemies [as] a footstool for your feet.

Hebrews 1:13b APNT:
until I place your enemies [as] a footstool under your feet?

We will see all of Christ’s enemies be put as a footstool beneath his feet. All born-again believers are in the spiritual generation that exists until all of his enemies are put under his feet.

1 Corinthians 4:5 APNT:
Because of this, do not judge before the time until the lord comes, who will bring to light the hidden [things] of darkness and reveal the reasonings of the hearts. And then there will be praise to each one from God.

While other generations are defined by what happened during their lives—the great depression, World War II, computers, the internet—the “until generation” is until all is fulfilled, regardless of when you were born.

Romans 11:25 APNT:
For I want you to know this mystery, my brothers, so that you will not be wise in your own mind, that blindness of the heart in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles should come in.

1 Corinthians 1:8 ESV:
who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:8 APNT:
who will establish you up to the end, so that you may be without blame in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

One of the characteristics of our Until Generation is that God always establishes, confirms, and upholds us up until the end.

Philippians 1:5–6 ESV:
because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:5–6 APNT:
5 for your fellowship that is in the gospel from the first day until now,
6 because I am confident about this, that he who has begun good works in you will complete [them] until the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God has good works for us to walk in, and he will not withdraw those good works until Jesus Christ returns.

Hebrews 3:6 KJV:
But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

We should hold fast the confidence and rejoicing of the hope until the return of Christ. Believers, even those who died hundreds of years ago, belong to a generation that will see everything put under Christ’s feet.

2 Peter 1:19–20 KJV:
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

Everyone in the Until Generation, no matter how old, has the same promises, the same Word, the same sure word of prophecy until Christ comes back.

Ephesians 1:13–14 ESV:
13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

The gift of Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our inheritance until we actually receive it.

Ephesians 4:11–14 APNT:
11 And he gave some apostles and some prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and some teachers,
12 for the maturity of the holy [ones], for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ,
13 until we all become one in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and one mature man, in the measure of the standing of the fullness of Christ.
14 And we should not be babies, who are shaken and blown about by every wind of the deceitful teachings of men, who in their craftiness are plotting to deceive.

We will see a time when there is no more division, where we will become mature in the measure of the standing of the fullness of Christ. We will have the fullness of everything Christ is as part of our inheritance. This generation will go on forever. There will be no language barriers, no cultural barriers, and no age barriers.
